The Maker is a boutique hotel for the growing creative community in the Hudson Valley. As Executive Architect, Mapos worked collaboratively with the client team – and the team of local contractors, fabricators, and artists – to channel their concept and design aesthetic into reality. It is the culmination of a group of modern “makers” working together to make the project come alive.
The Hotel is the adaptive reuse of three historic buildings into 11 guest rooms, a restaurant, library, lounge, cocktail bar, and café, all connected by a newly landscaped courtyard. Every material, detail, and design decision was scrutinized and developed to best represent the “maker” ethos. The Maker has quickly become the gold standard in hospitality experiences in the Hudson Valley.

The detailed effort to create a rich guest experience by adaptively restoring the existing buildings was a direct result of the unified team working together across many professions. Everyone involved built upon our respective expertise to inspire future guests the beauty of being a “maker.”
