Mapos was hired by hotel developers AWH to spearhead a full rebrand and remodel of a neglected, but classic, 44-room motor Inn. Originally built in 1961, and located at the end of Main Street in Lake Placid, the goal was to elevate the guest experience by creating a unique space where both vacationing urbanites, and world-class athletes, could find a place for both rest and recreation. Mapos saw an inspirational connection between the pioneering spirit of the great camps of the Adirondacks and the bright, optimistic aesthetic of the classic American motor inns of the Sixties. The resulting remodel is a playful mixture of these precursors, and a new icon in the center of Lake Placid.

Mapos collaborated with the brand identity firm Tag Collective to create an entirely new concept for the hotel; Lake House – a reclaiming of the optimism and romance of time-honored American roadside motel culture that celebrates its Adirondacks location. Besides a full redesign of the hotel, the scope of this branding included all hotel collateral, color palette, way-finding, signage, letterhead, and artwork. Mapos created custom furnishings and light fixtures throughout the entire project, intermingled with select furnishings and artwork sourced from local vendors and artisans.
