The Inn at Kirkside is a welcoming destination boutique hotel and restaurant concepted by Mapos in close collaboration with the local MARK Project to provide key support for the tourism industry in the Catskills region.

Leading a series of regenerative design focused community sessions with local residents, business owners, restauranteurs, hoteliers, and farmers, Mapos devised a dynamic and program to transform the 19th century Helen Gould mansion into an engine for economic growth.

Kirkside will be the adaptive reuse of the historic building into 10 guest suites, a teaching kitchen, a restaurant and cocktail bar/café, a library lounge, and a community center.

Serving as a hospitality incubator, the hub of activity will revolve around a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen training fellows to operate the dining areas. The latter are nestled into the intimate rooms of the mansion and spill out into a new glass-roofed conservatory bar/café and terraced decks. Adjacent to the restaurant is a new double-height library and lobby that welcomes guests and locals alike. Multi-purpose rooms with a catering kitchen are also in the mix to host special events and community gatherings.

The defined program that is being developed has many open transitions and shared spaces to ensure that guests, staff, locals, and visitors can all share in the new experiences the estate will create.

All of the new experiences at the Inn are choreographed to encourage learning and interaction, from the bustle of Roxbury’s Main Street, up onto the front porch, through the lobby and atrium, and out to the terraces, the gardens, and the mountains beyond.

Serving as a hospitality incubator, the hub of activity will revolve around a state-of-the-art teaching kitchen training fellows to operate the dining areas.

The addition of a new glass-roofed conservatory takes advantage of otherwise unused space between the building's two wings and creates a central bar that highlights views of the historic house beyond.

Dining spaces are nestled into the intimate rooms of the mansion creating familial settings for a good meal and conversation.
