About
Mapos designs projects that connect people to place and to one another.
Founded by Colin Brice and Caleb Mulvena in 2008, Mapos is a globally recognized, award-winning team of designers and architects. We design modern, human-centered spaces that connect people to sites and one another. From New York City to the Hudson Valley and throughout the U.S., our integrated process involves clients and communities from the outset, aligning design ambitions with budgets and long-term operational considerations. We are known for our expertise in adaptive reuse, hospitality, residential, and retail projects with authentic brand depth, as well as mixed-use developments that strengthen neighborhoods while performing well environmentally and financially over time.
We love what we do, and love helping people love where they live, grow, and gather.

Our work is grounded in the following design principles:
Stimulate Mission
We pursue mission-driven clients. Design is our lever to set clear goals and leave places better than we found them.
Design as Cultural Catalyst
Buildings should connect, communicate, and support—not just enclose. Our spaces enable human exchange, expression, discovery, and delight.
Leverage Context
No project exists in a vacuum. We read the urban or rural site to reveal and strengthen its character, and celebrate it.
Unify Strategy + Design
Strategy and design are inseparable. We clarify the brief, map the path, and use design thinking to solve complex problems centered on a single goal.
Support Convergence
Commerce, culture, community, art, nature, digital, and analog now operate together. We design for this convergence to create holistic spatial, social, and economic outcomes.
Embrace Nature
We, as human beings, are part of the natural world. We invite sunlight, fresh air, and greenery into every strategy to restore and enrich daily life.
